Sanitation is a mandatory government affairs, so that the necessary acceleration and quality improvement of access to sanitation in all corners of the ground water.
Three elements are sanitary waste water (waste water), garbage (solid waste), environmental and drainage (drainage system). If every person every day, throwing feces 125-250 grams in urban Indonesia, whose population is assumed to be 100 million alone, it will produce 25 000 tonnes of excrement per day.
If not addressed, not only the problem of volume, but also a matter of microbial, organic matter, nutrients, and worm eggs (four components in the stool) must be faced.
To that end, on 20-21 May 2010, no fewer than 63 district / city sanitation development activists gathered at City Sanitation Summit (CSS) to strengthen partnerships to support programs Sanitation Housing Development Acceleration (PPSP).
“This is one of the regular events Caring City Sanitation Alliance (AKOPSI) in supporting achievement of the Indonesia-Free Toilet Gratuitous in the year 2014,” said Chairman AKOPSI, H. Bambang Priyanto, who also serves as Mayor of Jambi, in the event City Sanitation Summit VII, at the Bung Hatta Library Auditorium, Bukittinggi Mayor Office Complex on Friday (21/05/2010).
AKOPSI is a container for increased synergies, information exchange, knowledge transfer, exchange of experience, technical and management assistance, apprenticeships and co-financing and various partnerships.
Members AKOPSI until now is the city of Jambi, Payakumbuh, Blitar, Surakarta, Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Kediri, Stone, Pekalongan, Tegal and Padang. Bukittinggi as host of the seventh executor CSS (CSS VII) together with the directing team of AKOPSI in support of Sanitation Development Technical Team (TTPS), agreed to the partnership agenda as a topic of the meeting.
This is based on the opinion that the construction of sanitation would not be apart from the importance of partnerships with various stakeholders to be able to provide sanitation services to the entire community.
“We’re building Bukittinggi sajajar partnerships with neighboring towns. For example for the development of Final Disposal of municipal solid waste to the city Payakumbuh, Agam and other districts,” said Ismet Amzis H, SH, Mayor of Bukittinggi.
Judy also said that as a member AKOPSI, can reap mutual learning and experience from other district / city in an attempt to find innovation is needed. In the event that was also attended by Governor of West Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Marlis Rahman, M. Sc, also attended the Regent / Mayor, members of parliament and leaders of service / related SKPD from 74 districts, as well as delegates from 15 provinces and eight officials from the Ministry of authorities concerned.
Access to sanitation is very critical to the success of health development paradigm of the next five years to place more emphasis on aspects of prevention rather than treatment. Acceleration will be difficult to materialize if not accompanied by a strengthening of coordination and cross-sectoral partnerships and every level of government, as well as inter-regional partnerships and cooperation among stakeholders.
